PM wishes all parties to ink MoU on reconciliation

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said Tuesday he could not figure out how a political party which does not sign the government-proposed MoU on reconciliation will earn a place in the next government.

 

“It cannot be helped because I have told them so that everybody is given a chance to come for talk on matters which will be useful to the country. If they do not want to talk, then it means they do not hold the country as paramount. How can the country move forward? How can the national strategy advance? How can we develop our economy to catch up with global situation?” said the prime minister.

 

He also brushed aside a suggestion that the government dust up former prime minister Prem Tinsulanonda’s 66/23 order to restore peace in the country with the communists, noting that the order was not relevant with the current situation.

 

Meanwhile, former People’s Democratic Reform Committee spokesman Aekanat Promphan said the content of the MoU on reconciliation must be clear and must ensure equality for all stakeholders otherwise it will lead to another round of political conflict.

Hmmm... Should we understand that political parties will be assigned a place in the next government? By whom?

The fact they do not want to sign shows there is hope one day.  A country does not move forward without freedom.  A word that never crosses the good general's lips.

Start off with cool water, and slowly raise the heat.

The big question is will the military sign?? 

 

To expect others to sign up to your big MoU , and then avoid signing it yourself is complete nonsense.

 

The military should be leading by example, putting the country first; sacrificing, showing morals and ethics - Those are the catchphrases the military likes to use when speaking to the masses, aren't they?. So show the country there is substance to the words you speak Mr Prayut and have the military sign the MoU first. 

 

I mean if they don't then they clearly can't have place in any future government...you said that yourself Mr. Prayut ??

Yeah, this should work given how much respect is afforded other documents, like Constitutions.

 

One assumes there will be penalties associated with "violations" of the MoU?

 

But I guess if they can get red shirts to sign it they can then use it to jail them for violating the vague terms of the MoU. Mission Accomplished. Pretty savvy actually.

DPM PRawit has already said "no."

But he did caveot his comment as saying it was an "opinion."
