BBANGKOK: -- A staggering 43 percent of Thai business travelers would accept a lower paying job if it meant they could travel more for work, according to a recent study by Booking.com.

The 2017 Travel Predictions collected data from 12,781 respondents across 13 markets in September 2016, and the number of Thais willing to accept a lower paying job for opportunities to travel to exciting destinations is 13 percent higher than the global average (30 percent.)

The research also shows that company bosses are potentially under-valuing business travel as a staff remuneration “bargaining chip” as well as a workforce motivation and retention tool.

With the exception sales jobs and jobs with target volumes, so-called "business travel" is rarely if ever what I would call "productive".

Most of the time it's just a waste of the company's time and money.

99% said they'd take a job with no work and some pay.

The funny thing here is that most of the Thai saluries are already on a very low level. I don´t think we are thinking straight here.
If you get a job with more travel, and it´s also much talk about to other countries, and even if the company pay for ticket and stay it would be more expensive to live like that.
Hoe can they then believe that it´s in line with reality to be able to can do that on a lower salury? Once again common sense is proven not to exist.

And all the artwork you can purloin.

The lower salary compensating the company for the excess luggage they must book so their employee can take an additional 2 suitcases of Mama noodles with them to survive their overseas business trip?

Yes less work and more travel. The bad part of this equation is it takes money to travel hence less work less money. Typical Thai and world wide thinking. Look at all the young people travelling today. In my day you worked married bought a house and had children then traveled I guess we got it ass backward.

It can be, but had a boss once that drove from town to town selling his stuff to businesses that sold the same stuff.  He had a route.  He pressed the flesh.  He did well.  If it is planned properly and that enough time is provisioned, it will have pay for itself in volumes.    The traveling salesman has to keep traveling though for it to work.

43 percent of Thais would take a job with less pay if it offered travel opportunities BUT ONLY if the rest of the world would speak thai language, eat thai food, respect the pee/nong thing and committed to sanook work ethos...

Yea and 95% of Thais could not live on less money then they are now bearly living on.

They must have only counted the Thais living and working in the large cities to come up with that 43%.

It all sounds good until you are on the road steady, flying cattle class and staying 3rd rate hotels

because budgets are tight. If you are working for Google, IBM, or big pharma etc... great otherwise

forget about it. Take the money and stay at home.

Do travel opportunities mean traveling by bus through and around BBK ?

Sure travel is a costfactor and before the purpose of travel is cleared ask please what is my return once investing into my staff going to travel for business purposes.

The one I saw abroad are strongly involved on spending time by enjoying the sideseeing ..and of course company expense .....but hey EPITA is to most not known too ..so why not ......

43% wouldn't return if they had an international job.....................................................:cheesy:

The other 57% said, "What's a job?"

43 percent of Thai people would be very happy to take a lower paying job if it offered a chance to get the ffff out of Thailand.

and provide visa-free access to every country

which is unfortunately why many countries demand strict visas for Thai passport holders.... not forgetting the illegal restaurant work and prostitution..

But hang on a minute!

Getting a job within the inner sanctum of  the junta provides not only First Class travel for you and a bunch of your 'hangers-on' but more pocket money to boot.
