BANGKOK, 27 January 2017 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapakorn plans to attract a major private corporation from China to build a tourism complex project on a man-made island.

The deputy premier presided over the opening ceremony for “Tourism Towards Prosperity and Sustainability” as Evergrande, a big Chinese private firm, is interested to invest in the tourism complex project on the man-made island in Thailand.

The initiation was raised during his visit to China to invite Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club, the champion of Chinese Super League, to compete in a friendship match with a Thai team in order to promote sport-based tourism.

Evergrande, the main shareholder of Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club, is looking for co-investors in such a project though it remains to be seen in what Thai province the man-made island will be build.

The island will be designed to house the tourism complex, including a hotel and sports club. The Tourism Authority of Thailand was assigned to support the project.

Headline not really the main idea of this article.

Poorly written.

A man made island to house the Chinese  purchased submarine

maybe Thailand should first look at what is happening int he South China Sea; China are making man-made islands so they can claim territorial rights!

So now it's sports-based tourism. Whatever happened to that other brainchild of TAT, Pokemon Go tourism. Not unexpectedly that was one big fizzer.

This one is a sure fire winner. Build an island to play football on. Potential co-Investors are welcome to deposit their funds with TAT. Your receipt and share certificate will be forwarded to you by mail.

Good idea, just make sure the Chinese are quarantined to those fake islands so the rest of us can enjoy a herd free country.

with shrimp buffet.

Are there no islands in Thailand?

Just imagine the 30% facilitation fee. That will allow retirement in style. Building an island and tourism complex ain't cheap. No wonder it has an advocate.

Maybe a way to get a casino in the back door.

Imagine the magnetism a Chinese built casino island would have for the Chinese.

Could happen as long someone else's purse clicks open. I love these ceremonial announcements but believe in boots and shovels on the ground. Till then its only a photo op hot air trial balloon.

That was their intent in the first place to place the submarine at this fantasy world and have paid for rides similar to Disney World. Caught you Thai bashers off guard on this clever idea.

Do they need a man-made island for this project because they have already destroyed the real ones?  Will the sewage be pumped directly into the sea? Which Thai Government will have to pay the final bill?  Will it be finished this century? Have they invited Manchester United yet for the opening game?  So many questions and so few answers !
