I live in Thailand and have so for last 16years. I am UK born and bred. I receive a UK State and forces pension.

If I was to visit UK this year would I be required to have health insurance to cover my stay ?

I know a friend also UK born and breed,75 years old, and still paying some UK Taxes, Council tax on property he owns, who had to pay for treatment he received in UK.

I recently saw on the news that before any NHS hospital treatment is provided patients will have to show their passport and copies of utility bills/bank statements.

A friend went for physiotherapy at an NHS hospital a few months back and was asked to complete a form asking about how much time they had spent out of the UK in the last 12 months, did they own a property abroad and stay there, or with friends, purpose of trip etc.

The hospital did not ask for the form when they went to their first appointment so they never handed it in.

Not sure if receiving a forces pension might mean you are entitled to NHS treatment?
