BANGKOK: -- Media representatives will Thursday submit resignation from members of the National Reform Steering Assembly’s (NRSA) subcommittee of print media reform to show their opposition against the controversial media regulation bill.   

 

Former chairman of the National Press Council of Thailand Chakkrit Permpool, who is a member of the subcommittee, said he and other three fellow media would resign from the panel because the proposed media reform bill was aimed at restricting press freedom.

No reason or need for them to support these restrictions which are totally unacceptable.

Finally somebody is saying no to government gone wild.  Ranked at 136th in the world in press freedoms, improvement is needed, no more censorship.  Geneva of the east ?  Dream on !
