PCD prepares 7 measures to solve haze problem

BANGKOK, 3 February 2017 (NNT) - The Pollution Control Department's (PCD) Director General Chatuphorn Burutphat disclosed that the PCD is preparing to initiate counter measures to mitigate the northern haze problem in 2017, after the cabinet approved a budget of 154.3733 million baht for the operation.

Seven core measures that will be employed to tackle the haze problem includes the use of the Single Command system, risk area segmentation and fuel management, the prohibition of burning activities, the discouragement of burning activities, the proactive communication in risk areas and target communities according to the civil state mechanism.

The PCD has asked the public to report on burning and haze to the relevant authorities and refrain from burning forest areas, leaves, branches, garbage and agricultural waste.

Relevant agencies are also asked to constantly monitor the PCD’s reports on air quality in order to be prepared for the situations.

the prohibition of burning activities, the discouragement of burning activities

The request of not do burning activities.

The publication of ban on burning activities

The promotion of non burning activities...

The "screw it all, burn whatever, we got 154.3733 Millions"  :giggle:

A 154 million budget to stop people lighting fires. Eyes must be lighting up for those who are "connected". Fire engine, fire hose, fire extinguisher, safety vest, helmet sales look like booming. Sales agents (middlemen) also smiling.

They can create a whole bunch of slick advertisements claiming Myanmar is causing the haze. Done.

The rest spent on hookers, mia nois, booze, gold, trucks, hair dye, and general naa yai entertainment.

Requesting farmers not to burn is not the answer....

must Ask why do they burn and then develop solutions to help them clear their land of secondary materiel and waste

most of the burning already occurred in dec to clear for the 2nd crop...forests are where the future burning will be happening in February/march

Seems this is almost a repeat of last years diatribe on the same subject. They must have a huge calendar with file pockets from last year. This year they would reach into the February 3rd pocket and pull out the news from least year and and hit repeat.

Talking of pockets ..... the money that went into the "connected" pockets last year will go into the same "connected" pockets this year.

If there is going to be burning, then it should be limited to those days that are windy and smoke will be distributed, but not so windy that the fire will be go out of control.

It sounds good on paper but your dealing with people that are what is the word I am looking for lets say rooted in the past way of doing things. Their ultimate goal is survival. Even if a fire inspector caught them and warned them after the inspector left their actions would continue. Food and lodgings matter to these people and little else.
