BANGKOK: -- THE INFLUENZA vaccine cannot prevent all types of flus and children suffering from the disease should stay at home until they have recovered, said viral hepatitis expert Dr Yong Poovorawan from the Department of Pediatrics at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine.

The groups who were at risk of dying from the disease were children under two; elderly people over 65; those with chronic illnesses, especially lung or heart diseases; heavily pregnant women; and people with low immunity or who were taking immuno-suppressants, he said.

Thailand’s frequent influenza outbreaks have mostly been caused by the H3N2 strain that can be prevented by vaccines, although not at 100-per-cent efficiency. Outbreaks typically occur from February to March and June to July so vaccinations should take place before these periods or in May before school opens, he said.

My mate's kindergarten school closes for at least a week every year because of hand, foot and mouth. A mixture of lazy cleaning with cheap/inferior cleaning products (gotta save money) and parents sending in their sick kids to school. It happens every year.

In schools brooms are used everyday

instead of industrial hoovers!!!!

The dust goes up then comes down, then goes up.......

Children get sick ........then they get sick again.........
