BANGKOK: -- ADVANCED INFO Service (AIS) has denied the public perception that it has started talks with American premium cable and satellite television network HBO only after HBO and TrueVisions failed to continue their partnership in December.

 

AIS chief marketing officer Pratthana Leelapanang said that the company had been in talks with HBO for a five-year exclusive deal to air HBO programmes on its mobile phone and broadband Internet networks around eight months ago. Both companies announced this successful partnership deal last week. 

 

The HBO deal with AIS covers only the airing of programmes on AIS’s mobile phone and broadband Internet networks, while HBO’s contract with TrueVisions, which ended in December, covered only the airing of programmes on the pay TV network.

 

“We had talked with HBO seven months or eight months ago for the deal and not when TrueVisions stopped airing HBO programmes on its pay TV network.” Pratthana added.

 

The AIS move to secure the partnership with HBO reflects the intense competition between AIS and the True Corp group to offer appealing content to attract customers.

Internet services aren't reliable here so it would be pointless paying for HBO

Get a good VPN service then Amazon prime and for another $15.00 US  a month get HBO channel. The real HBO not the sorry HBO Asia.

What is the point with finding out if AIS started their bidding and talks with HBO before or after the contract ended. The contract has now ended, and the next one gets the contract.

I agree with pmarlin. Get a good VPN and you can watch whatever you want on a smart TV. Netflix, Amazon Prime with HBO too, Hulu, and I have DirecTV mobile which as streaming service duplicates my entire US satellite subscription.

Dustdevil & marlin, I have found that both VPN's I have dont allow content on my amazon prime box and also Netflix on my Mac.

 

If you don't mind me asking, how are you doing it, are you installing the vpn directly onto the router?

On the subject of True Vision I have recently tried to cancel my 1 year contract with True because they no konger have HBO and Discovery. I have a bundled pkg. Which consists of True Vision platinum, 

True internet and cell phone with Internet.  This pkg. Costs 2999 plus tax a month and the contract is  for 1 year ends in July. 

True called me back to inform me if I canceled I would have to pay a reconnect charge for my internet of 2500 baht. I informed them they violated the contract by dropping HBO which is what I signed up for.  

 

I feel this is a giant rip off and

Intimadaton. I informed them they broke the contract by dropping HBO but as usual fell on deaf ears.  As of now True is insisting if I cancel I must 2500 and wait 2 weeks to have my internet installed.

 

Has anyone run into this situation from TRUE.? ? ?

 

What is my recourse?  ? ?  Who can I complain Too ? ? ?

DEpending on your location, you can go to the nearest AIS shop, sign a form (passport needed as usual) and they will get you internet access in 2-3 days.

 

No charges and they will give you the first 6 months at a very cheap rate - pay in arrears. You can also move your mobile number to AIS although (deliberate) delays are not uncommon.

 

You can tell True that you are about to switch to AIS - that often makes them tone down their arrogant behaviour.

I have had True both in Bangkok and now in Buriram for the past 5 years and have always honored my contract and paid my bill.

express vpn.  set it to connect in the USA and set you Computer location to USA to  use Amazon Prime video, The Express VPN web site has more details  on how to do this.
