Hi All

Greetings - Need information -

I am visiting Thailand and will clear immigration in Bangkok and stay 2 days in Bangkok I will then fly to Phuket for a 5 days hoiliday and return to Bangkok to spend 2 more days and fly out.

I have a single entry tourist visa is there any problems or issues (Visa) involved for a tourist travelling within Thailand.

Common sense tells me that there ought not to be an issue but felt it was best to consult.

Thanks in advance

No problem. Enjoy your stay. Your ID (passport) will be checked on internal flights for security reasons but that is all and normal everywhere these days.

Your question does illustrate a perception problem that may very well affect general tourism in Thailand.

If the perception among tourists that such travel as you have outlined has any potential for difficulties for one reason or another, then I think the recent changes in visa and VOA regulations will definitely have an adverse effect on tourism here.

By simply feeling the need to ask is a reflection of this concern, but is one that I can certainly understand a tourist might have, given all the hub-bub over the recent changes.

So you think one post among the what, 13 million people that come to Thailand this year, is some indication of a trend? Sounds more like some paranoid that worries too much and you are some one that is trying very hard to find a negative in everything

Actually only about half that number of tourists will arrive in BKK this year... and although TV is a big forum, it's only 40K members... which means that a single post may represent or reflect the thoughts and concerns of thousands of other people that have never even heard of TV.

Add in the complete misuse of the term paranoia (I, myself, have nothing to fear about regarding the number of tourists to Thailand) and about the only negative thing I find is your negative response to an observation which, for many reasons, is completely valid.

TAT statisics show that there were over 11 million visitors in 2005 (2006 not available yet). So your number of half of 13 million in 2006 is not anywhere near the mark. TAT is targeting almost 15 million in 2007.

The paranoia remark was not directed at you, but the OP and it is certainly the correct usage in his case if he is wondering if there is a problem wandering around the country with a tourist visa. Anyway, the reality is none of the "hub-bub" on this or other forums is going to have any affect on the Thailand. :o

Actually, the figures for 10 of the 12 months of 2006 arrival figures ARE available and are about half of what you quote.

In the latest figures released by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, tourist arrivals recorded through Bangkok's international airport from January to October 2006 were 7.92 million.

TAT can "target" 15 million in 2007 all they want, they are notoriously shy of their inflated figures.

I, too, don't think that TV will play a major role in tourism arrivals, but the OP does reflect some of the concerns of the thousands of "Joe Tourist living in Ottuma, Iowa" who is considering a trip to Thailand might have when they hear of the changes somewhere else, eg. travel agent, airline, etc..

If a reader of TV is unsure of visa limitations, I can't imagine what poor ol' "Joe" is contemplating when faced with the issue.

For people who have travelled a little bit more than Heathrow - Bangkok - Pattaya and return will know that many, many countries have restrictions on domestic travel, various checkpoints. Go travel in rural Lao, Myanmar, China - the whole of Afrika and you will encounter some of it....hence the Q from the OP I guess? That LOS is floating of MC's, Starbucks, CarreFours and more evils, isn't something everybody know :-)

Deepak, like others have already mentioned, there wont be any visa problems during travel within, but do be sure to keep your passport or at least a copy of passport along with the page on which your Thai visa is.
