NBTC expects digital TV industry to grow more this year

BANGKOK, 17 February 2017 (NNT) – The Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) expects that Thailand's digital TV industry will continue to grow in 2017 after the audience base has increased by 50 percent.

NBTC Vice President Dr. Nathee Sukonrat said that the measures for promoting and supporting digital TV businesses have reduced the expenses of digital TV operators and increased the industry's capital circulation by 12.615 billion baht.

Each channel had continued to invest and develop their content including production, content co-production with foreign countries, and purchases of high-value content such as sport programs.

The digital television industry's audience base has increased by 50 percent and is likely to continue expanding. It is expected that within about 2-3 years, the analog TV system will disappear from the country.
