Junta insists no change to road map

BANGKOK: -- The junta’s so-called “road map to democracy” will not be altered to ensure election in near future and restoration of democracy, said Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday.

 

“The road map won’t be changed for Thailand to be democratically stable in future. We are also working on reconciliation with all sectors so the country will be fractured no more,” Prawit said.

 

The road map, announced by the junta shortly after the 2014 coup, has already seen some alternations following circumstance, from scrapping of the first charter draft to the coming Royal Funeral of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej expected to be held later this year.

I had to scroll up and recheck his picture to see if he had a straight face. As mentioned before this guy is scarier than Prayuth.

Democracies are racy, loud, perplexing, heartbreaking and are still the most fair way to govern.  They only remain stable without the interference of unelected or appointed bureaucracies.

It's usually welcomed when a politician speaks honestly - but not in this instance.

But the term road map is sooo impressive.

No change needed (it's only their touted metaphoric-concept after all, and according to them, its destination is a democratic Thailand).

 

However, to follow this roadmap and reach the destination, is seems the country will still need to traverse a surprisingly-endless array of obstacles and pitfalls that seem to appear without warning, and leave the whole process of reform and "reconciliation" dangling precariously on the point of tumbling into an abyss !!!
