TrueVision to pay extra compensation for HBO cancellation

TRUEVISIONS will pay additional compensation to around 1,000 the subscribers who exited its platinum and gold packages during January 1 to 25, after the company’s cancellation of six HBO channels on December 31, said Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission’s broadcasting committee.

The broadcasting committee day voted three to one to order TrueVisions to pay add-on compensation to those exiting subscribers. Then it called in TrueVisions to ask if it agreed with the conclusion.

True chief content and media officer Birathon Kasemsri na Ayudhaya said the company agreed with the panel’s resolution.

Thanks for the reminder to cancel my True T.V.!

It seems every movie is about killing, or some other unpleasant subject with repeats time and time again.

Every friend I know here after 11 years has cancelled their True T.V. cable service.

Interesting how the penalty only applies to subscribers who downgraded from platinum to gold. I just did the same thing, as the difference is so minimal, and the platinum package has such lousy content. And they only have to pay a penalty of 20 days worth of usage. So less than 600 baht x 1000 subscribers. And this is news? This is chicken feed to this company. No doubt the regulators will be sent a thank you note by the officers of the company.

Cancelled mine last month,  effective this month end - a months notice was required. They stopped broadcasting BBC Entertainment too for which I was paying a la carte extra for each month on top of my Gold package. Now moving to PulseTV with power adaptors to boost signal for my TV upstairs. It has all existing English channels like Discovery, Nat Geo, Animal Planet, History + BBC 1 to 4, ITV 1 to 4, UK Channels 4 & 5 + Al Jazeera, which True never had.

So only those who cancelled their subscription will get compensation? Lovely. Basically what they have done is replace pay for view TV channels (plus BBC) for channels with content that is mostly available in America for free and not reduced the price of the package.

I cancelled Truevisions as well, after nearly 12 years.  Surprisingly my deposit was returned to me!  I've also gone with Pulse TV which is great, but I've had big problems, first with True Online who are unable to provide acceptable speeds even though I'm paying over 800 baht a month for so called "high speed", now with AIS which is faster but still cuts out when connect by wifi.  Like you I'm going to get a powerline adaptor to see if this makes a difference.

And presumably would have rethought it if True hadn't agreed. Whether the subscribers agree is obviously wholly irrelevant. Morons.

I was number 501 to cancel last month.  How do you get this refund?

Give truevision all your bank account details..... I think they can keep the 1000 baht.

Don't know why people still want cable..oh sure some sports and the home county news etc . I understand that. I had cth and they went tit's up but they haven't cut all the programs. Three English news channels and the usual Thai soaps and news. But I don't pay for any of it. I just stream Netflix and youtube all in English. Netflix has so many series I have a hard time keeping up to them all. More than enough to watch. YouTube has just about anything your interested in.

With Kodi you will have access to both UK and US tv, virtually every live channels that is available in those countries, and most importantly it's FREE

Take look in this, and a few other threads in the AV forum.

Feel free to send me a PM if you want some more info.
