BANGKOK: -- A high school student and her mother told reporters that the school staff and teachers pressured her to quit school after she brought donuts to class for a friend’s birthday.

The teen girl, whose name was not disclosed, was a Mathayom 4 student at an unnamed school in Nonthaburi province. On Feb. 9, her father dropped off a box of donuts for her at the school’s security booth in the morning, which then got her in trouble.

According to the girl and her mother, during the students’ morning line-up, a female security guard came and yanked the girl’s arm before the entire school “because of the donut box,” in the girl’s words. The guard dragged her to the student discipline office to meet the school vice director and the head teacher of Mathayom 4 level.

:post-4641-1156693976::post-4641-1156693976: WOOOOW,...... always pick the lil' girls ................

When the family asked to meet with the director, the school staff said that the director was away.

A common occurrence when problems arise.

'Meanwhile, the school director, who was unidentified, claimed that he/she was aware of the donut incident, but pointed out that it was impossible and inappropriate that a school guard would use force in front of the whole school'

Impossible? Like defying the laws of physics? This action is perfectly possible within the laws of physics. Not like reincarnation or worshiping inanimate objects for good fortune. Inappropriate? Sure, it is. Gotta do it behind closed doors, right? I can well believe the security guard yanked her arm as I've seen and read about teachers here doing much worse. Coffee cups being thrown at students springs to mind.

Seems to me that the school was annoyed with her getting eyebrow tattoos. I'm sure she may well be no angel, but at the end of the day, she's a child. You can't hold a grudge or vendetta against a child. That's just childish.

It's possible, she wanted to be ready just in case a coffee mug was thrown at her. :coffee1:

The problem was the staff preferred Krispy Kremes......,

Nice to see a school looking after the best interests of its students by cracking down on excessive sugar consumption.

Or objected to junk food with their new "No-sugar policy"... :shock1:

The new "One strike out" policy. A box of doughnuts and you're out... :post-4641-1156693976:

White rice mentality!

It was her father who brought the donuts.  The girl didn't do anything. L9l

Yes...away in a secret corner munching on those donuts...

They should have known better. Its not about donuts, its about "donations" to teachers and principals.

This is only 1 side of the story. I am waiting for the other one.

Any slightly sane organization has a stand in authority if the director is away. Utterly lame excuse, but expected

Ridiculous TUT

Better change school. Girl will be mistreated by teachers at school after this.

Isn't that always the way. Maybe he had to go to the hospital and have his stomach pumped out because he possibly refused to share the seized donuts. For the sake of disclosure I have noticed some of the Thai students packing more weight than when I came here. KFC always seems packed.

Sounds like a wonderful place to send your children to.

"Since the incident, the girl refused to go to school because she was embarrassed, according to her mom. Following her absence, she received a letter from the school’s director which told her to officially resign"

Ah, so that's why she was asked to leave.

From the full OP it seems she was getting into bother at school on a regular basis.

However even after her refusal to attend school, she has been told she is allowed to return and will be able to take her final exams

No sympathy. Forgot the director's take. :partytime2:

Nothing to do with a "No sugar policy".  If it's a private school, it's only about money.

When I was teaching at a school in Samut Prakarn, the students were told not to bring food to school because they must buy food at the school shop.  I was doing a "Restaurant Role-play" with my students and got them to bring food, to make it a more realistic situation.  Well, parents in their dozens turned up with pizzas, home cooked food, cakes, ice-cream and much more.  The parents stayed and watched the role-plays, and even told the school principal how much they enjoyed it.  However, I was summoned to the principal's office the next morning and told in no uncertain terms that students must not bring food to school, and it was not to happen again.

As far as a "No sugar policy is concerned - At another private school, about 12 years ago, every Wednesday afternoon was a nightmare; most of the students were hyper-active, and couldn't sit still for more than 30 seconds.  I found the cause of the Wednesday afternoon hyper-activity was because every Wednesday lunchtime, an outside cake seller was allowed to sell cakes and chocolate bars, etc, in the school canteen.  I told the head of administration about it, but nothing changed.  I am still in contact with a teacher from that school, and he tells me that Wednesday afternoons are still the same, and the cake seller is a family member of the administration officer.  "Jobs for the boys"  TiT!!!!!!

Sorry, another post put here by mistake.
