Looking for someone to ship a product to me in the US

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!  I'm looking for someone to help me with a somewhat frivolous quest.

I've been furiously searching for my very favorite pair of discontinued sunglasses that broke recently.  I'm really attached to them, as they are one of the best vintage-inspired pairs I've ever found for my face shape.  I finally found them on two Thai shopping sites that don't ship to the US. :-(.   (Zalora and Lazada)

I tried to find a mail forwarding website to get them forwarded to me, but they are all focused on forwarding packages FROM the US, not the other way around. I did find one service called Parcl, and sent a request, but they had only one shipper who, I was told, has been away on business for an extended time and is unavailable.

I didn't want to give up until I've tried everything, and someone in the know directed me to this forum for expats.  So, I'm here looking for someone willing to receive four or five pairs of sunglasses (of different colors), consolidate them together into one secure package, and forward them to me in NYC.  I'm willing to compensate for your time.

Please contact me if you would like to help me out. Thanks! -Katie

2 questions?

Can you trust a complete stranger to forward on the sunglasses to you? And is the person who would mail the goods to you expected to lay out the costs of sending to you?

Another problem is that even if you sent money to the sender beforehand, a package is sent and for some reasons doesn`t arrive, then the onus falls onto the sender to prove he or she sent the package and to chase up the problem.

The best method I can suggest if to have the glasses delivered to shipping courier company in Thailand, such as Fedex, and have them forward on the goods to you that could all be arranged online and payment by credit card.

I got no dramas doing it if you pay for postage upfront and I'll send it registered via EMS or courier of your choice, but surely as cyber said there must be other ways of doing it lazada is not only in Thailand. Or just tell us the style of sunnies and we can find out if your legit by seeing if they are available anywhere else in the world but Thailand.

Must be a pretty obscure brand. I could go on, like for instance if they are discontinued why are they still being sold?

Sorry, I didn't know people had responded because I didn't get a notification in my email.

cyberfarang - I know I'd need to trust someone to send them, and I'd probably have to put up the money for shipping.  I didn't think about shipping them TO FedEx to forward, I'm not sure how that works and if the shipping company will do it, but I'm going to look into it.  I've already asked the two companies if they could ship to the US or forward from one of their other countries websites, but I struck out there.  I also looked on the other countries versions of those websites and they didn't have the sunglasses.

Starky - the sunglasses aren't a designer brand, just an independent brand called AJ Morgan.  The model is called Astro.  I assume when they phased out the model, anything that they didn't unload on sale got shipped out to overseas wholesalers?  I think that's what big brands do with clothing they don't sell, as well.  If I strike out with Fedex I will try to contact you.

compensate only for time?

I'm currently in Malaysia, and will be visiting the US (my home) in June. If they can be shipped to Malaysia I can bring them in my luggage to the US and post from there. PM me if this makes sense.

check amazon for the same  glasses, might just luck out

Christianblessing, im not sure, do the Thai versions of those websites ship to Malaysia?  I will PM you.

surangw, I scoured the internet, Amazon, and EBay.  Unfortunately they are only on Zalora and Lazada (the Thai versions of those sites).

JholmesJr, of course I'm compensating shipping.
