Authorities maintain perimeter around Dhammakaya Temple

BANGKOK, 27 February 2017 (NNT) – Police and army personnel have maintained their perimeter around Dhammakaya Temple with followers of the religious group gathered at a nearby market to observe the situation.

The presence of police and soldiers has kept the atmosphere around the temple orderly even as followers and clergymen of the temple have continued to flock to its perimeter. Faithful of the temple have set up a makeshift gathering point at Khlong Luang Central Market where they were seen listening to sermons and engaging in religious activities. Authorities are probing all those entering the market to screen out possible interlopers and have restricted temple entry to only Gate 7.

The Department of Special Investigations (DSI) and the Office of National Buddhism have meanwhile prepared proper authorities to inspect over 200 monks who traveled to Dhammakaya Temple to make sure their documentation is in order. While no fraudulent monks have yet to be found, many deemed to be unrelated to the temple have been sent back to their provinces.

Provincial police regions 3 and 4 have been prepped to continue the securing and search of the temple today, replacing officers who have been performing the task for several days now.

I don't envy the government having to deal with this kind of sinister provocation

- only because a criminal wears orange and doesn't take responsibility for his sins
