PATTAYA: -- Police in Pattaya have made many arrests including the groom after shots in the air caused the death of a local on Sunday.

Many shots were fired in the air and one hit a man at a house at 9am on Sunday morning killing him instantly. The shots were fired during a "khabuan khan mark" or wedding procession where the groom goes to the house of the bride Thairath reported.

Five men aged between 21 and 23 gave themselves up and face charges of firing guns in a public place and being in possession of illegal weapons. They appeared in Pattaya court yesterday and were bailed for 150,000 baht each as they had turned themselves in.

The groom - Sumeth Lormrop, 25 - also gave himself up and was bailed for 50,000 baht. He did not do any firing but admitted lending a .45 gun to one of the shooters. It was not licensed. He has also been ordered to turn in guns he was pictured holding at a pre-wedding photo shoot shared on Facebook.

Another man faces charges of lending a 9mm gun to one of the young men charged with the shooting. He was also bailed in the sum of 50,000 baht.

Several of the shooters were taken to the Huay Khai Nao area where the wedding procession took place. It was not reported what exactly they were pointing at.

But they are good at it. You can only imagine the commitment in their faces. Great pointing guys!

Pointless pointing chaps, they blocked your faces.

So you missed your 5 minutes in the spotlight.

The dead man's family should make a tidy sum from this group of buffoons.

Irresponsible retards!

Yeah, but this must be one rare picture to save. Never seen so many fingers pointing at the same time in one photo. Can be valuable collectable in the future.

Looks like the woman married a very good and responsible man, that let people borrow guns that not even he has a license for. I just don´t want to see what mayhem an offspring from these people are going to be able to create. Save the world! Use a condom!

It could only happen here.........:whistling:

From the headline "many arrests" I thought the BIB had been busy tracking everyone down.

It seems the people arrested universally handed themselves in, for which they should be given some sort of credit.

Too often they are found hundreds of kilometres away hiding in the family village.

Utter stupidity from them all, as obviously bullets fired upwards will always come down somewhere.

It will be interesting to see how this develops at court, after all, someone is dead, but none of the charges they faced, reflect that so far.

Quite possibly the infrequently reported but often observed phenomenon: Darwin in Reverse.

Fortunately no shooting at the procession to our house on Sunday (wedding of granddaughter).

And only one drunk as a skunk disturbing the event
