Varicose Veins

Varicose veins, a family problem for me.

I am seeking an experienced clinic or hospital that does medical intervention, not an herbal remedy or massage. Either catheter occlusion or venous ablation procedures are desired and Chiang Mai would be preferable since repeated trips to Bangkok would be expensive and time consuming but quality of treatment outweighs cost or inconvenience.

Thanks

as i know varicose veins can be corrected by

1 Sclerosing i/v

2 Operation

and I think the Hosp of the faculty of medicine of CM University can do it (Suan Dok area)

(maybe some private hosp aswell)

Thanks BambinA.

I am however aware of the various procedures such as catheter occlusion, micro extraction phlebectomy, injection sclerotherapy, venous ablation, etc.. My interest is in finding a hospital or clinic that is very experienced and offers modern procedures.

Perhaps among all of the aging expats in Thailand, someone knows where to send me?

Regards, Dustoff

More details?

I checked out their website which was totally uninformative - at least for the subject at hand.

Thanks tho and I will contact them but can you describe what problems your GF had that they corrected and what procedures were involved and the cost?

Thanks.

The wife wants to get hers fixed too dustoff. She cannot find anyplace in Chiang Mai that can treat without an operation. She does not want to be cut open.

I think that her only hope is Bangkok. There is no Sclerotherapy or Laser treatment that is available here AFAIK.

Might try the Hosp of CM University as Bambi has suggested.

Thanks for your responses!

Unfortunately I tried the University Hospital and saw a doctor who presented himself as a "vein and artery specialist". Without any examination what-so-ever, he diagnosed my thrombophlebitis and occluded veins as "an infection" (wrong) and prescribed anti-inflamatory and pain meds which turned out to actually be two very strong anti-inflamatories which together had me near death and put me in the Bumrungrad Hospital for a few days. I have not been back to the "cattle car" treatment style at the University Hosp since. I should have known when I was number 13 to be seen and was in and out within 40 minutes. That's a mere 3 minutes per patient! Faster service than a McDonalds drive-thru and about the same quality...

I just today received a reply from Yanhee Intl Hospital with info on the extensive and modern procedures they have available and pricing. Unfortunately, for their cost of treating only one leg, I can fly back to the U.S., visit with family and friends for a couple of weeks and have BOTH legs done there under medicare and/or VA and have a few dollars left over. They make even Bumrungrad seem inexpensive.

I think that venous ablation would be my treatment of choice but doubt that it is available in CM nor do I think I would trust anyone here with such a new procedure.

Western world, here I come (but not for long)... :o
