Non-Imm O-A Visa/Delayed Arrival

So I understand correctly, I leave and come back before my use until date. I get another year until July 2018. It makes sense on arrival to get a re-entry permit in case of emergency. I could see a situation where one might have to leave hastily but not have time to get the permit. Having said permit and having it good until 2018 could be useful insurance.

Can I get one at the airport on arrival?

You can obtain at any time - visa does not need to be valid - only your permitted to stay needs to be current. The re-entry permit will be for the same time as that permitted to stay stamp. So after

Some responses. This topic is not about extinction risk (of humanity). With a basically alien intelligence out of human control BILLIONS of times smarter than any human, we're all total moron at best. What you and Musk are talking about is about the more utopian possible outcomes in 10 or 20 year. There is of course a wide range of possible outcomes. I'm not talking in 10 or 20 years. i'm talking about older people now for the next 10 years or so. The transition phase to whatever is going to happen is going to very rough going. The assertion here is that it will probably be less rough in countries at the level of Thailand for the predictably very rough transition phase.
