2 encryption programs on W10 + Android, effect?

At first I read that the New York Times recommend SIGNAL to pass on confidential about dicey subjects. Then I read about the Swiss program PROTON. Swiss sounds even saver. 

Now I got two encryption installed. What is your guess? Both will encrypt each other producing garbled NEWS SPEAK?

( PS even if there had been ever a period where I might have have had dicey information, these day are long, long gone by,  alas)
