Silpakorn University student Thirapong Thitatharn, 24, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on March 2. Chief of the Forensic Police Institute Maj General Pornchai Suteerakune said on Monday that the latest finding by the institute's medical examiner was in line with a previous autopsy carried out by Ratchaburi Hospital, where Thirapong died. webfact Posted March 13, 2017 Share Posted March 13, 2017 Protection sought for witnesses of Silpakorn student’s murder BANGKOK: -- The Ministry of Justice was on Monday asked to provide protection to witnesses in the crime case related to a Silpakorn University student who was killed by a group of 18 men at the victim’s dormitory in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi in February. Accompanied by her lawyer, Mrs Areerat Chomlok, the mother of the dead victim, Mr Thirapong Thitatharn, alias Nong Pond, met with justice deputy permanent secretary Mr Thawatchai Thaikhiew during which she asked for protection for witnesses. She also asked for compensation from the Justice Ministry. The lawyer, Mr Songkarn Atchariyasap, said that he would raise his objection against bail for any of the 18 suspects who were due to be questioned by police at the Crime Suppression Division on Tuesday. Meanwhile, it was reported that four witnesses were scheduled to give their testimonies to CSD police on Tuesday. Songkarn claimed he had evidence to prove that the 18 suspects, some of whom were sons of policemen in Prachuab Khiri Khan, had been coached not to testify to the police but to the court only. She has obviously brought up her son well as it is not easy to get into Silpakorn University. He was murdered by a gang of connected thugs just because he happened to be in the wrong place. He was unconnected to the feud. In Thailand there are no state benefits. It is the filial responsibility of children to provide for their parents during the child's working years. So, now not only is the distraught mother facing having to bury her son, she is also trying to challenge the grave injustice of the impunity of the police and their thug sons and in addition a dramatically worse financial outlook. I am aware of all you write, having lived here for nearly 25 years. I didn't blame the mother for asking for compensation, I merely wrote that she was asking for it.
