Cambodian Police arrest 26 Nigerians

Featured Replies

Immigration police yesterday arrested 26 Nigerians for living and working illegally in Cambodia. Major General Ouk Heisela, director of inspection at the Interior Ministry’s General Department of Immigration, said the group was taken for questioning after their arrest in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district.

Officers found only 10 had passports, while 16 had no travel documents at all. The 10 with passports but no work permits will be fined and released. The rest face possible deportation. “Some came here to play or coach soccer and some have no proper job,” the director told Khmer Times. “Some crossed the border to live in Cambodia illegally.”

Last week, five Chinese women working at a massage shop in Toul Kork district were also arrested and fined for living and working here illegally.

Thailand should take a page from their book, but Nigerians on Sukhumvit only work at night when they cops are sleeping.............no wonder they hardly ever get caught.
