Hi all,

I am hoping maybe somebody can help me with a few questions I have regarding the TM7 form I have to extend a 30 day visa waiver.

Firstly, having hauled myself into the city centre to a copy shop / Internet cafe to print off the TM7 and get copies of necessary passport pages and TM6 today, I have since read on here about having the TM7 printed double sided on a single piece of paper. I didn't do this and have the form printed single sided on 2 sheets of paper. Is this going to be a major issue?

I am also struggling a little with some sections of the form.

At the very top of the first page (good start!!) it ask for "Written at". It will be written at my rented house but I'm sure that's not what they are asking :) Should I state Thailand or Bangkok or something?

There isn't enough room for anything much more than that.

Where it asks for "type of visa" should I write "visa waiver" or should I leave this blank as I don't actually have a visa?

On the second page where it says "Address in Thailand" , am I supposed to fill in the dotted lines immediately to the left of that which doesn't give enough room for a full address or is it just a sub heading for the sections below that would simply repeat the address again?

Also, the address of my rented house is, blah blah blah Dokmai, Prawet, Bangkok.

Am I safe to assume the following:-

Subdistrict = Dokmai

District = Prawet

Province = Bangkok

If anyone with experience of submitting a TM7 could help out with a little guidance it would be much appreciated as I'm not finding the form particularly intuitive to try and fill out and I wouldn't want to get turned away and potentially waste 1900 baht because I've made a hash of filling the form out.

Cheers

Yes the single sheets will be an issue, if you can get to a printer put the first sheet in reverse & copy 2nd sheet onto it ( i just did mine )

OK  "Written at " let them worry about that

Type of Visa - since i came in on Visa exempt that's what i would of probably put but will let them worry about that

Address - There is never enough room so start on the dotted line & go under if nescessary

& yes it does repeat itself but as you stated in a more broken up form

I'm not an expert but must be close to nailing it - good luck

Ah so they don't cop the hump if you leave some parts of the form you are unsure about blank then?

I will get the form printed again over the weekend and aim to get to immigration first thing on Monday morning so that if there is anything they are unhappy about I should hopefully be able to put it right and still have time to get the extension done on the same day.

Hopefully!!  :)

Just did the formalities today & got a bit of a surprise

Well I thought i had everything covered for my 60 day marriage ext but when i got there ( Korat Immi ) they wanted every page of my passport copied up to my current entry stamp.

So jumped through the hoop, but when i got to the desk was advised i could get a 30 day TV after entering on a Visa exempt then go for the 60 day marriage

This was apparently the only way to get the 60 day ext. as i did not enter on a visa

So come the 1 st of April (due to Songkran ) I am to return & go through the 60 day ext. again

Wife says the man is never happy with us

strange, do you mean they gave you a 30 day extension instead of a 60 day visit Thai wife, you say a '' 30 day TV''

No I entered Thailand on Visa exempt & they said for you to be able to get a 60 day Visit Wife Ext. you must first have a 30 day tourist visa, so thats what he gave me, then i shall return & get the 60 wife Ext.

I am not surprised if they actually said "30 day tourist visa" - but there is actually no such thing.  There is a 30-day Visa-Exempt Entry.  There is a 60-day Tourist Visa (which is not obtainable in Thailand).  There is a 30-day extension of stay, which can be added to a Visa-Exempt or Tourist visa - which I am fairly sure you received.

I've never heard of a "conversion of an Exempt-Entry to a Tourist Visa."  A "conversion to a Non-O", yes, available at some offices, and using the 30-day extension to allow time for that process?  Just a guess, but that would get you 90-days upon receipt - not 60.  Please let us know what happens upon your return to that office - maybe they are starting something new.

This is all very odd. The clear-cut rule is that you can get a single 60-day extension to visit your wife for each entry into Thailand (whether visa exempt, on a tourist visa, or any other kind of visa). Just maybe, they assumed you were asking for a marriage extension for which the rules are completely different, but at this stage confusion reigns. Let us know how this all pans out.

Your right Jack

Looked at the stamp & it's a TR extension

I think he did this to give me an extra 30 days & then to apply for the 60 day Marriage ext to prolong the need to go to Loa if need be (Im pretty sure i didnt do the TR ext before whilst obtaining Marriage Ext )

PS : They are calling people in early due to Songkran so dont forget as i stated i am due to go back on the 1 st instead of the 17 th

I have not heard of people obtaining a 30-day + 60-day based on a single entry - but I suppose the office could choose to do it.  As you are going in early, whatever happens, you will have more time to react.

Yes i belive you can have two extensions on a visa exempt. 1 30 day then if married they can give you 60 days as well heard it a few times now.

Yes - confirmed.  It seems you can add this 60 days to any entry.  Just be sure to bring your landlord's ID, his tabien-bahn, and the tabien-bahn of your residence, if applying at Jomtien.

The 60 day would be based on visiting wife so you would need her there and her tabien and ID in my case.

Those too, yes - what the 60-day is for.  But I didn't expect the other parts - thought my Lease-contract and letter from Condo Juristic Person would do for confirmation of where I lived. (edit) plus my up-to-date TM-30 receipt.

If you and your wife are renting then i suppose yes you would need landlords stuff.  As we have our own house just need her tabien and ID.
