we are near ban phong in nakhom panom,  we want to visit laos then vietnam , looking over the mekong we can see the high laos mountains they look beautifull but i imagine the roads arent to good over there. 

 

what is best way to go please ? 

 

Actually not sure of road conditions today - but this would have been my choice 40 years ago.  Should be an experience.

There are vans that do it. Might need to charter or possibly change at Tha Khaek and get a regular service.

 

You need to check the Vietnamese visa requirements for that specific entry into Vietnam for your nationalities.

There is a Thai tour bus that goes on Satrday mornings. Got no contact details wth me.

USE brains before posting-you want to take own car-that will give you many hassles to near sheer impossible to enter VN, or go by public /hired transport? For the latter-guidebooks have been written a plenty for that, or check a site named hobomaps for most and quite uptodate buslinks in Northern Laos+adjacent.
