Thai Rath reported there were many passengers injured when a minivan overturned on the Viphawadee Rangsit Road at 10 am yesterday morning.

The incident happened when heavy rain hit the capital in a summer storm.

The van was on its way from Imperial department store in Samrong to Rangsit when the driver lost control and it skidded off the road ending up overturned in the ditch.

The accident happed in the Si Kan area of Don Muang.

Thai Rath said there were many casualties without giving further details. All the injured were taken to a local hospital.

Only one minivan was involved, the picture in their story is a composite of images of the same vehicle.

Bangkok experienced heavy traffic as the storm hit the capital yesterday morning.

Although the 2 van pose in the OP is quite believable as well. :coffee1:

Mini van drivers , are truly the worst drivers on the roads.

They show the highest  level of disregard to passenger safety.

Why did he loose control,  was it the rains fault. ?

or just stupid driving behaviour. ?

of course it was the rains fault.

Amazing Thailand

So when are we going to start getting reports of micro bus carnage?

I was in Bangkok yesterday when the rain came. The fastest thing on the roads were minibuses, weaving madly through the traffic, utterly regardless of the poor conditions.

They are always in such a rush to get evereywhere, to stay on their impossible timetable, that safety and peoples lives just don't seem to be important.

Speed and bald tires

"Only one minivan was involved, the picture in the story

Why?  One van overturned, the many casualties and the injured

were not a story good enough to get published?

BTW, that's one BAD Photoshop job.

hope no one was killed

nothing will change ..

Probably hasn't had the GPS tracker installed. That would have made the mini bus safer, we're told.

How Unusual don't see this happing much in the land of Smiles :stoner::post-4641-1156694083:

Either get the drivers well trained, enforce the law with harsh penalties, have thorough inspections, or get these rolling coffins off the roads. This may pen rai attitude when it comes to risking lives is disgusting!

As soon as the new micro buses will come into service and the drivers are instructed.

Of course those well instructed drivers were asleep during the instruction, and as they think they know all, why listen to the instruction?

Speed limiters are needed, maximum 90 km/h!

I doubt if this one was doing over 90 kph but looking at the OP pic with 2 buses and half a bridge and not knowing this road I can't really say but I would guess that many hit and runs are below 90 kph.   Can anyone see the state of that tyre in the air ?

If you ride these suicide vans, it's like Russian roulette, only a matter of time before you cop it.

Good to see Thai Rath's image compositing staff earning their pay. Keep up the excellent work.

They use the word 'accident' because it implies no fault so nobody needs to take responsibility.

The GPS should come with a weather sqawker. "Heavy rain is expected sqawk. Slow the H down. Sometimes a comment out of the blue will bring them down to earth before they leave it for good that is.

Just like that. Obviously he was fully sober, not exceeding the speed limit (nor the weather one), the van was wholly roadworthy ... must have been bad karma.

Well, it would have told him to watch out for the ditch.

Nah, those are racing slicks. Of course, they re supposed to be used in the dry, and on a track, but let's not split hairs.

Completely agree.
And they also show the highest  level of disregard for all other road users.
Just yesterday, such an minivan idiot was tailgating me when I overtook a truck.
He has approached my rear bumper up to 5 cm at a speed of 120 km / h, for the whole time of overtaking.
If I only had taken my foot of the gas, there would have been an accident.
There are really zero IQ drivers out on the roads with the brain size of an amoeba.
Unfortunately, not only do these idiots die, they also drag many innocent people into death.

It has nothing to do with the vehicle type.
Even with a minivan you can drive safely.
The problem are the drivers.
Here are simply too much brainless Yabaa drivers on the steering wheels.
Allowing one of this brainless types to drive a vehicle is the same as to give a two-year-old child a razor blade to play.

No news here, please move along to the next carnage !
