To apply for a one year extension of stay you need to be the legal father of your child by way of legitimization or marriage. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 40k baht income.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child. Your child will need to be with you. You will need their birth certificate plus a copy and copy of their house book registry. You will also need proof of residence.

Can that extension be made in any Immigration Office in Thailand?

Yes if you can provide proof of residence for the area of responsibility for the office where you apply.

That is the 60 day extension I wrote about. I was not sure wish extension you were asking about.

You apply for the 60 day extension to visit your child for any of the 90 day entries from your visa.

Proof of residence would be a rental contract or your wife's house book if that is where you are living. If the rental contract was in your wife's name it would be accepted.

You are confusing proof of residence with a certificate of residence you need to get a drivers license for example.

She will also need to file a TM30 form that a foreigner is living with her or get fined 2000 baht.

I wnt to my amphur today regarding the matter of extension of stay as a parent.

They are advising me to get a Thai ID card first.

So I need to grab the headman bring him to amphur get him to testify I'm the dad and I need my passport translated 2x 1.5 inch photos and I'll get a Thai ID card and for the rest of the EOS they pretty much said they have no idea.

Sounds like a step in the right direction anyway. Any thoughts?

The ID card is probably not all that important. It is just additional proof of residence besides the yellow house book you have or will have.

If the amphoe does the legitimization of your parenthood that is enough to get a one year extension based upon being the parent of a Thai. How old is your child?

Dear Ubonjoe,
Is there a limit of age for the kid to get a Non O or any extension for it?
My son will turn 18 tomorrow. I have been on Non O 1 year multi entry based on him since many years. I never applied for any extension because i am working in neighbor country and just would not have enough time to apply for extension instead getting a new Non O every year (which is fine for me). I never been questionned about the age of my son when i apply for new Non O at the embassy but they can find out easily as i provide his birth certificate.
My point is that my actual Non O will expire this coming November and I am wondering if they might told me "sorry but your son is 18 years old now, you can't get another Non O" when I apply for another one...

But the key phrase is that you must have "legal custody of the child or marriage"

Simply being the foreign father or mother of a Thai child is not enough.

There is no age limit.

A few immigration offices have said 20 years old is the max age for a one year extension but they are wrong and confusing it with the age that non Thai dependents can get an extension. There is no age limit in the police order for extensions based upon being the parent of a Thai.

Thanks. I will turn 50 in January 2018 so if i can get another 1 year Non O based on my son this coming November will be perfect.
I am divorced and have the legal custody of my son from the court.

Ok my Mrs already put my name on birth certificate and the amphur are aware of this. My Mrs took my passport the day we got birth certificate done. I'm on it. So in the amphur eyes am I legitimately the father already? and If so what is my next step to getting EOS?

Your name on the birth certificate does no make you the legal father of your child. You must be married to the mother of your child (before or after birth) or get your parenthood legitimized.

See this topic.
