That isnt the issue, its the use of the word "retarded" for journalists to describe people whom they disagree with .

That's not the " issue ".The " issue " is about retards and cripples. Read again.

Yes, but people do not use the term "retard" as a description for actual retarded people, they use it as a term of abuse for someone who disagrees with them .

Its an abusive term, rather than a descriptive term

the word retard is just an abbreviation. the word to describe retarded people will have to keep being changed as people in our PC world start to find it find it offensive.  we started using the word special but now that has gone out of flavor, before it was handy capped, then that was changed to handy capable.  the way forward is is stop being offended by everything. is this going to happen? no because easily offended people tend to be very vocal.

So what happened to your delay? My eldest son is Downs Syndrome; his younger brother would have flatten you hearing an opinion expressed he. His brother got a good citizen award in year 1 as he helped all the others on his table before he started his school work. They are now 32 and 30 having turned out beautiful young men. I took both boys to a gay wedding when they were 12 and 10; Josh the oldest asked who was getting married and I told him. He said they are both boys. I said it was OK for boys to marry. He immediately accepted it. One of his biggest disappointments was not playing in the under 10's final; he was 12 but played 2 years under his age to fit in with his development. One of the parents on the other side objected; they kept their identity from me as I would have expressed a lot to them. Your interpretation shows a delayed or retarded development in the discussion on what is appropriate to say too people with a disability. I have a disability, which is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I also suffer with this as it is not a widely accepted condition among the current crop of health professionals. You see it starts with you; don't try and convince people what are social norms. In fact banning inappropriate phrases will change a culture.

He took both his boys to a gay wedding, and when his son with Downs started asking questions told him it was okay for two men to marry! Jesus wept!

A poster remarked that  "TVF readers should get with the times when referring to our hosts

Hosts?? i do not consider consider the word 'host' to be at all appropriate.

We are tolerated (and even that is a flowery description) by the people here. Hosts are people whom welcome you to their country, afford you safe and unmolested passage. Treat you with respect, as they would wish to be treated themselves by us.Do not readily accept a law which says it is OK to Steal from its guests by overcharging them to the point of indecency. Having a corrupt police force that is literally given permission to shake down their 'guest' road users, force them to pay, inordinate amount of money, to be let free of a visit to the 'hotel' if they receive the right amount of  payouts, that want a initial payment to start an' investigation', that usually goes nowhere. To treat the sexual assault of women (including their own) as "not a serious crime. To tell a grieving mother, (tourist) when her child has been killed " you can go home and make another one" Gangs of uneducated, ignorant thugs to beat the s##t out of family tourists, usualyy on a 6/1 basis,  and get no real punishment, because they excused themselves by blaming it on the alcohol, they had poured down.

their gullets

I could go on. Calling the owners(that's the right word).of this country 'Hosts' is naive, rose tinted, and just plain infantile.

I live in a village, and thank God i do.At least the villagers, are of a different grade to the likes of Pattaya Thai. And yes i lived in patts for a very long time, and had two bars, so i am no slouch.I had the number of Thai freinds that i could count on one hand, that was enough for me.

And before you get all sanctimonious, and telling me that if i don't like it i should go home. This is my home, Ive been here for 17 years,i have found my Shangrila. And the way i have made it this way, is by living by my rules, and choosing my friends carefully(i don't have or want many outsider ones)

I dont know how long you've been here, but be here another 10 years or so, before you post such rubbish.

Host's? Host's my Ar$#

Sarcastically calling someone a retard means they are the ultimate stupid idiotic lame-brain, that genuine mentally ill people would come up with more common sense.

So what do we call Prayuth now that we must refrain from stating the obvious?
