We have had the TOT fibre to home connection for over a year now and it has worked pretty well. However, the last two or three days we keep getting strange disconnections.

Normally, in the course of things I kind of expect TOT to drop a connection now and again, this is usually evident by the loss of internet but the Fibre router is still connected to the main grid - ( All the lights are green for go) - It usually lasts between a few minutes and at worst a couple of hours.

Today and the past couple of days have been different though, the Fibre router has been losing all connections rather than just the internet link. I.E. The connection LED on the router is flashing red, basically no latching / connection.

I am pretty convinced that it is probably not a TOT problem, but could be something here, localised, because if I power off the fibre modem a couple of times it then reconnects correctly.

Any ideas what to look for?

As far as my home network is concerned, the only thing that has changed in the last couple of days is enabling GPS and "Location Services" on Win 10 PC - (This has now been disabled to see if it has any influence)

Thank You.

yes look for 3bb or true

Why bother to reply? Go back to sleep! TOT has been fine for years. If you bothered to read the OP, you would have seen it was some sort of fault that has just occurred, not some underlying problem with TOT that could be resolved with 3BB - Besides, you obviously have no experience of 3BB in my region, they are the PITS!

I've had TOT problems for the last couple of days too. Although I'm on ADSL the modem says it's connected but not getting any IP address allocated from TOT. I think they have problems with their PPPoE authentication server.

Normally if mine goes down it still shows a green light for the actual internet connection, but it has no actual (computer connection) to anything on the internet.

The disconnects we are having are complete Fibre disconnects where the red light on the fibre modem is flashing.

Might be an intermittent error on a weak junction. Your fiber is shared with multiple people much like cable, and whenever a new subscriber signs up a tap is made to their house. If it's not properly done a stiff breeze may whip it out of alignment.

Call TOT they can check the line for issues.

Edit: Something similar happened to me once, but in that particular case the whole electricity pole the cable passed through caught fire.. that'll do the trick.. easy to diagnose though.

Have had similar issues to what @Jdietz described.

First one, a nearby fully-involved house fire burned hot enough to melt all the plastic components suspended on a power/telephone pole in front of that house.

Second one, just a few days ago, noticed the Fiber Optic router red light flashing and noticed the GPON INFO Optical Module power levels were listed at '- -' , no optical light being detected  ...reported the outage using the 1177 number. A speeding truck flipped through a cement pole taking out 5-6 major Fiber Optic and assorted copper trunk lines).

In both instances TOT immediately had crews on site working throughout the night creating splices for the damaged sections.

When you have the issue, what does your GPON INFO report?

I've had ToT fer years in Suphanburi and now with the recent heavy rain I've stayed connected on fiber with the standard fiber ZTE5EA5B3 router supplied with the connection...

whenever I've had a problem I call them on 1100 and they check to see if there has been a local disturbance and advise accordingly...you can get their techs to come out to investigate but it may take awhile...

I have has similar experiences.  I have a fiber connection that usually works well but the last couple of evenings it has gone down completely.  It copies back up the next morning but it is still  annoying.  I called TOT once for help when the red light was on and although  I live in Nonthaburi I got a call from a technician trying to find my house on Koh Samui.  Fortunately the problem went away on its own.  The wife (she who must be obeyed) is convinced that we should switch to AIS.  Anybody have any experience with AIS?

My understanding is that there is a wide area outage for TOT DSL at least in the Jomtien area in the last few days. Generally resolved, if not, call TOT helpline 24 hours.

That's a classic.
