Featured Replies

A 16-year-old boy was killed instantly and another seriously injured when an old B-40 rocket they found on a farm exploded. The rocket was among unexploded ordnance dug up when a farmer hired an excavator in Kampong Cham province’s Stung Trang district. The farmer reported finding three rockets to the Boeung Dek commune police chief Chea Mouy Nov.

“I informed the Cambodian Mine Action Center who came to collect them about five days later. I also posted a sign where the rockets were gathered,” Mr. Nov said. “However, when CMAC came there, they found only two remaining ordnances and we did not know who took the other one.

“When the explosion happened we concluded that it was the lost rocket,” he said.  Children who had been playing with the victims said the pair had gone hunting animals. They found the rockets and took one. They did not take it home immediately, but hit it with a hatchet in the forest.  It did not explode.

Confusing story. One went missing...and it did not explode. I surrender. Illogic wins again.
