KRABI: -- The chief of Ao Nang police station in Krabi has said that the man claiming to be a Region 8 policeman caught on tape demanding tea money is not one of his men, reported Daily News.

The man in a black jacket and blue shirt was filmed demanding money from a bar in the RCA entertainment area of the southern Thai beach resort. The footage ended up online.

He claimed to be a Region 8 policeman and said if the bribe was not paid the bar would be raided and the staff arrested.

A complaint was made to the local cops saying that the man had done this no less than ten times demanding 1,000 baht on each occasion.

Earlier today the Ao Nang station chief said that an investigation has begun.

Piyapong Bunkaew said: "He is known to us. He is not a Region 8 policeman but a police volunteer from Krabi".

Chief Piyapong said he was unable to supply a name at this time but the matter was under investigation and the man concerned is set to be interviewed by his men.

Bugger me, they have missed out on Bht 8000, have to sort that pretty quickly.

Only 8000? Probably not worth their time, and that is why they know it is not one of them. "Official" payouts to "legitimate" members of their department are not such a paltry sum.
