BANGKOK: -- About 5,000 criminal and drug suspects have been rounded up by police of First Region Provincial Police Bureau since March 31 as part of the police’s nationwide crime crackdown ahead of the Songkran festival.

Police also seized 100 illegal firearms, 500,000 methamphitamine tablets and other drugs during the same period.

Big crack down before songkran !! WOW !!

If the lazy buggers did their job every day the country would be crime free.

In general the police know all the bad apples. The just prefer to squeeze them for tea money

but when they need a good headline they just round up the low/late payers. It sends a strong

message to the rest. Or so it seems.
