How long can I stay after One Year Non-immig O Expires

Featured Replies

My one year Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant O (marriage) was issued on 6 September 2016. It states "Enter Before: 5 September 2017"

I will depart Thailand on 3 August and return on 7 August.

Am I correct that I can remain for 90 days after my arrival on 7 August?

Yes, but August 7th is day 1 of the 90.

According to my information you can even stay 1 year after last entry before the visa ends.

So if you come back August 6, you still get one year of permanent stay in Thailand.
So was told to me by some other expats.
I have a Multiple entry Non-immigrant O-A visa, but that should be not different, or is it ?

What you have is generally referred to as a "retirement visa," which allows you a new one year permission to stay each time you use it to enter the country until  the "use by" date, so you can manage to stay in Thailand almost two years in total before you either need to leave or apply for an extension. You need to report to immigrations any time you remain in the country for 90 days. When you near the end of you last permission to stay you can apply to immigrations for an annual extension of stay, but once the actually visa expires you would also need a re-entry permit if you want to leave and return while keeping the balance of your permission/extension of stay.

A non-imm O multiple entry visa only grants the user a 90 day stay each time it's used to enter the country and the user needs to leave the country and return for each new 90 day stay.

Thank you for the replies. Very helpful.

I'm ever amused at the amount of misinformation given to topics like this. Who cares what you "heard" or "think"? Actual facts, please.

You can also exentend your 90 day entry by 60 days as you are married.

Hi I am in same situation as OP. I have a Non-0 multiple entry marriage visa, my final entry was April 5th. After my 90 days are up I would like to extend for another 60 days at local immigration. Does anyone know what I will need to bring to immigration office to get the extension?

TIA

You wife will need to be with you when you apply for the 60 day extension.

You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

You will need proof of residence unless living where your wife's house book is for. Proof can be a rental agreement.

Thanks ubonjoe. So I should do this the week before 90 days expire?

You could do during the last two weeks of your entry.

You can get up to 17 months stay on a Non Imm O ME Visa and only cross the border 3 times.

Each 90 day entry can be extended one time by another 60 days based on Thai family. (Wife/Children).

I will be going back to UK to work for a few months after visa expires. I'll get a new visa from London when I plan to come back.
