Current Status of Lao Tourist Visa- Free?

Hello, I was wondering if the offer to get the free tourist visa in Lao is still in effect? thanks

No it finished 28th February.

It was extended for certain countries.  For example, the Chinese who could only afford to come on zero-dollar tours, are now being offered free visas - that $30 savings can make their visit possible.  Anything to bring in those "quality" tourists.  This post lists those who still get the free-visas:

Oddly a gal at CM immig was expecting that FREE visa when i was there the other day..2000!

Immigrations doesn't issue tourist visas. They're issued by Thai embassies or consulates outside Thailand. What was she expecting to get?

Not sure--just recall her saying ISNT IT FREE?...as the girl said no and she handed over 2000

 

I was just there for extension---my first time staying here 4 months without doing the laos run
