Cabinet to consider salary increase for officials serving junta
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Cabinet on Tuesday would consider a proposal requesting extra salary increases for hundreds of government officials who were requested to help the junta’s work.

At least 721 officials are reportedly subject to this special consideration.

This special treatment has been done twice during the post 2006 coup. Over 400 officials who were requested to help the work of the Council of National Security received two times salary increases.

most of them do bugger all anyway , wanting an increase in wages when they dont even do enough to earn the original one is over the top but not unexpected from these people, anything to get more money especially when their special "envelopes " have been slowly drying up under the junta. They have to be able to get their bonuses some how

Excellent! Keep the masses in there place, we don't want them to advance, do we!

Now that they won't be able to get cheap street food they will need more money for lunch.

But of course! Perfectly in line with delusional beliefs the people are happy with the military rulers. Snout-in-publc-funds-trough, again.

salary?  Heck, I would not be surprised if the treasury is open for business to any of the senior junta.  It is like the count room inside Las Vegas Casinos.  Nobody knows what goes in and out, nobody gets a reviewable external audit report or accouning

Eh? To all intents and purposes, they ARE the junta.

Nothing new here, MP's vote on their own pay rises in the UK.

Plus they are able to submit expenses claims of extraordinary figures of more than twice their salary. If I did that I'd be in jail.

I really am tired of years and years of all these constant Publicity photos of the Thai "government" always containing military people when it is supposed to be a democracy, which by definition is run by voting civilians.  But, this is Thailand.
