johnmcc6
The banning of food carts in Bangkok by the end of this year will really hurt thousands of people. The cart owners plus the workers who can't afford restaurants. This government seems to not like the poor cart owners or customers.. They claim they obstruct traffic ,create rubbish and many are not clean. At this rate Thailand will be like any other place as it loses it's character even if it is chaotic at times. Dante99
Read carefully and you will see that they are setting up specific areas for food carts rather than having them all over sidewalks.

elektrified
"They claim they obstruct traffic ,create rubbish and many are not clean. " Uh yes, that is all true. It makes getting around Bangkok a nightmare at times. They also obstruct foot traffic and increase the rat population.
johnmcc6
Never said it should not be done as it is real obstruction to traffic both pedestrian and roads. it is nevertheless part of the charm of Thailand. A bit like motor bikes in Vietnam crossing the road. Anyway, hope they work it out for everyone.

Exactly, BKK will be much better after the changes...who wants to walk inbetween that nonstop? They can go inside a mall/park/market and sell there... Also pushcarts should be banned, they like to go against traffic and are far too slow to be on the roads. It's time BKK cleans up it's act, other asian metropoles are much better organised and easyier to live in.
