Commerce to make Thailand “Paradise of Street Food”

BANGKOK: -- The Ministry of Commerce plans to make Thailand as a "Paradise of Street Food" after the country was named for having the best street food in the world for the second consecutive year this year.

Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said the promotion of quality and clean street food would be done through its current “Noo Nich” project which emphasised on “delicious food, good quality, clean and cheap price.”

The project is now implemented in Bangkok and is expanding to the provinces, she said.

The project is to recommend eateries offering good-quality and clean food at reasonable prices, so local people and travelers can have more restaurant options when they come to Thailand, she said.

In addition, the ministry has collaborated with the Office of SMEs Promotion to provide loans for people who want to start a “food truck” business so as to promote quality, clean and cheap price street food in the capital.

One hand does not know what the other is doing,

happens quite a lot.look out u-turn coming up.

What came first, the chicken or the egg???

The street food can taste great, generally, but you can't live on it. Most is made with overused oils and lashings of flavourings/spices. Good taste, no doubt, but very bad for the guts. Hospitals overflow with people with stomach issues.

last month i went for a short holiday at Happy Sea Rayong, the prices of street food was so cheap compared to the prices of street food in BKK.

Had "Chao Kway" grass jelly desserts for 15 THB a bowl. when the bill came my friends and I were all surprised! we actually check if the bill was correct cos it was too cheap.

While I understand the need for health and cleanliness, cheap and good food is always the best attraction.

Even some HISOs I know still love Khao Niao Moo Ping and hanging out at the local SomTam n JimJoom roadside stall.

Come to ABAC BangNa where I lived and you see the rich Uni kids in the BMWs and Mercedes queuing up to buy BBQ Chicken on sticks across the 7-11 in a rundown Shack.

You can't make this shit up. 2 days ago they were banning it, yesterday they were flip flopping, today a side branch is doubling down on it and tomorrow they will hand out 10k baht for street food start ups.

Anyhow, I'm in the paranoid corner with many others when it comes to street food. Just walking down the markets and seeing meat out in the open for hours gives me enough of an impression to stay away from most any food stalls.

Anyhow #2, thanks for the laugh, one thing Thailand just never disappoints to delivery with unmatching certainty.

The rooster came first!!! Or you wouldn't have an egg.

That is not street food if she said restaurants! !! Street food stalls are to be banned and stopped so we were told?make up your *** mind plz

I come to Thailand for the delights of the street food.

Recent outporings from the politicos declared sweeping the streets clean of these attractions.

I was begining to investigate having to partake in the 10's of thousands of the indigenous prostitutes as a foil to my despair.

But seems salvation is at hand.

Whoever said Thailand has the best street food in the world has obviously never visited S'Pore, KL, Penang. While some Thai street food is very good indeed, it lacks variety. It's always the same stuff and pretty much Thai/Chinese only. Nothing to write home about compared to the huge varieties of street/hawker food found in S'Pore & Malaysia.

Thailand.....................:cheesy:

They do know what they are doing.

The Restaurant Association is passing the brown envelope  as are the Bus  Transport guys

re the pickup rear seating ban.

High speed trains coming next that the poor people cannot afford to ride in

And these people R with us every day , scary stuff....................................:cheesy:

Surely, "Thailand, a paradise of banned street food" is an oxymoron?
