Well at least he had the correct colour car for his little jaunt.

The money he made being a monk will be needed to pay for the car.

Just another monk behaving badly.

Just another day and more stories of monks behaving badly.

Rumour is he has just set up an account on justgiving.com

...any money left over will go to repairing his ex friends car:cheesy:

Perhaps one of Thai Visa's resident car buffs can identify the make and model of the crashed vehicle?

I'd be leaning towards a skyline probably cheap one GT-s or GT-t having said that pretty exy to import so I don't think many Thais are banging around in Skylines.

Shit I was leaning towards a skyline but on closer inspection you are correct. Good call

Monks ion robes are not supposed to be driving car, so what was this supposed monk thinking.

Guess he was thinking, Okay! I am going back to my civy life so lets start by trashing my friends

car. WooHoo.

Geezer

Might have to stick around for an extra day to make merit and be forgiven or does he have credits

well i think a driving car would be the wrong place for meditation,

but maybe i am wrong

my meditation always start after having some drinks

and drunk driving is not allowed, so i guess i  will never find out.

I have to wonder what percentage of the guys wearing saffron robes in the temples nowadays are genuine long-term followers of Buddha?

Many seem to be there on a very temporary basis to satisfy tradition, or to escape the real world with all its problems, or just to make money.

The non-genuine monks do the reputation of all the others no good at all and do a great disservice to Buddhism, which, exercised properly, seems to me to be a great way to live one's life.   Unfortunately, there does not seem to be much evidence of true Buddhism

in Thailand just now.

It's important to distinguish  between Theravada Buddhism and "Thai Buddhism".

Its a fascinating subject and history walk that will lead right up and into the modern day eccentricities present in externalized/ socialized and Nationalized forms of contemporary Thai-Buddhism.

Reflections of true Buddhist practice (Dharma) may still be found in the 'Forest Monk' traditions.

* A must read for all of you who feel befuddled, bemused or be-otherwise by the enigmatic  concept of 'Thainess'

Looks like an expensive car. His mate should thank him, now he wont have to pay the imported luxury car tax.

  • 1 month later...

only poor monks have sports cars
