Can I get a 30 day tourist visa after my METV has expired?

Featured Replies

I am currently outside Thailand.

I have an METV (6 mths) that expires on May 22.

I have been in Thailand using the METV from Dec 13 to Mar 1 (I got a 30 day extension after the 60 days expired).

I want to go back to Thailand on June 13 for 30 days.

Will I be able to get a Visa-on-arrival?

I am asking as they may have some sort of rule like "you have already been here for x days or y times within 1 year so you cannot etc etc"

Thanks in advance

Tom

There is no 30 day tourist visa or visa on arrival.

You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

Having a METV before and the entries will not affect getting the visa exempt entry.

Thank you ubonjoe

Although it is unlikely you will be questioned, you should be prepared in case you are.  When arriving Visa-Exempt, be sure to have 10K baht in cash or travelers checks on your person (not plastic), the precise address where you will be staying (usually a hotel-booking), an exiting-Thailand ticket to show, and an explanation for the following questions: "What you plan to do in Thailand," "Why do you visit Thailand so often/long," and "How long will you be staying in Thailand," the last correlating with your exiting-ticket.
