MAJOR CONSTRUCTION company Ch Karnchang (CK) has set a revenue target for its construction business this year of around Bt35 billion, chief executive officer Supamas Trivisvavet said yesterday.

The company’s current project backlog is Bt85.231 billion.

New projects recently commissioned include construction of a Metropolitan Waterworks Authority pumping station worth Bt303 million. It has also won Contract 1 of the MRT Orange Line project, the section from the Thailand Cultural Centre to Min Buri, worth Bt11.570 billion. Also on the Orange Line is Contract 2 worth Bt12.060 billion, and Contract 5 worth Bt2.709 billion.

A highway project won by the company is Contract 4 of the Bang Pa-in-Saraburi-Nakhon Ratchasima route worth Bt1.852 billion. Projects to be signed in the near future include the supply and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment for the MRT Blue Line Extension (Hua Lamphong-Bang Kae and Bang Sue-Ta Phra sections) worth a total of Bt19.463 billion.

With all these new projects, the company’s backlog will reach Bt100 billion, with revenue to be recognised over the next three years. The company is also keen to bid for a number of transportation mega-projects this year, including those in the Transport Ministry’s 2017 action plan worth almost Bt900 billion. The company says it is confident of acquiring 20-25 per cent of these new projects this year.

Ch Karnchang says its construction projects are progressing as planned. The MRT Blue Line Hua Lamphong-Bang Kae and Bang Sue-Ta Phra sections have reached 97.6-per-cent completion, with track work 86.8 per cent completed. The supply and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment for the MRT Purple Line Contract 4 is 91.8 per cent completed.

Construction of a double-track rail project from Jira Junction to Khon Kaen is 15 per cent completed. The Bang Pa-in-Saraburi-Nakhon Ratchasima Highway Project Contract 6 is 0.1 per cent completed.

Supamas said the high construction revenue last year was an exceptional case as the company realised almost Bt10 billion in the second quarter of 2016 from additional construction work for the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Laos worth more than Bt19 billion.

An interesting company profile.

"CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited was incorporated as a limited company, with the initial registered capital of Baht 1.4 million, on November 27, 1972, to engage in general construction business. Initially, CH. Karnchang’s scope of work covered construction of buildings and general civil works, and its major clients were government agencies, such as, the Royal Thai Army and the Royal Thai Air Force."

I am sure they will do well in the current environment.

Well, in most countries such work is being tendered for on an international level. As it seems, there is only one company in Thailand and, as infidels are not allowed, you might want to buy shares in this company as this is a sure non-failure.
