BANGKOK: -- All departments and agencies of the Transport Ministry which have infrastructure projects will, from now on, be required to draw up their own safety audit plans in order to ensure that their project constructors or contractors have complied with strict safety standard.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisit on Tuesday instructed all units under the ministry’s supervision such as the State Railway of Thailand, Highways Department, the Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority and Mass Rapid Transit Authority to tighten up safety measures for all their projects under construction to prevent a recurrence of a fatal accident last week when three workers of Italian-Thai Development Company were crushed to death by a collapsed supporting steel beam at the construction site of the Red Line train project in front of Wat Don Muang.

Mr Arkhom said that it would not be enough for the project implementators to have their safety audit plans as accidents still took place occasionally. In order to tighten up safety measure, he said the project owners themselves must have their own safety audit plans to ensure that the highest safety standard is enforced.

How pathetic are these plebs......after every fatal incident on their projects, the same rubbish comes out.....better safety systems....safety audits...training...massive fines for fault....but as usual, nothing ever happens.

After all...ItalThai are bigger that these people!

SAFETY :violin::cheesy:

The first thing is you NEED to know what it is, the second thing is someone has to pay for it!!  FAR cheaper to just have the accidents....

They can't even enforce motorbike helmets, what hope have they got?
