Have To Apply For Taxes By Going Yourself?

Featured Replies

Can anybody tell me how the tax systems work?

Resently my mother, who has got a reasonable retirement income,58 years old, staying on a multiple non-o,came to Thailand.

I am wondering if she has to pay any taxes? She just takes some cash whenever she likes from the ATM.

She did not choose to take a retirementvisa, cause she likes to go out with me,every 90 days(also mult non-o),at least just for now.(and doesn't have the 800)

She is planning to stay a couple of years longer ,and then will return to our homecountry.Till then she will return every year (to our homecountry)forth and coming and renew her visa, she likes it like that, and fine by me.

The question is ,if anybody can tell me,do you have to go to the revenue department by yourself?Or doesn't she have to pay anything?Very unclear to me ,cause in my home country,'taxpeople' come themselves, and in my own situation I do not have any personal income, but my thai wifes's,so no idea.

I do understand that when you want to extend a visa, they will ask for taxpayments, and I do understand that is the reason why imm asks for transfer all the cash to thai banks, and with all the new bank regulations in place ,that's not very exciting also right now.But does this also apply in this situation?

But the last thing I wish for is my dear mother to have any problems when checking out at the airport! So i wish to have some information on this topic from anyone in the same kind of situation?

thanks for reading and everybody merry cristmas and blissfull New year.

Why would she want to pay tax?

Any interest she gets from a Thai bank gets taxed at 15 %. The bank deducts this automatically.

Ah well, but what I still do not understand is that when she takes out her money all year round from the ATM,do you have to pay taxes over that as well. This is unclear and can't find this info anywhere, makes me think there isn't.

Off course she does not want to pay taxes if you don't have too.

But thanks for the reply anyway.

I don't know what the law says, and it doesn't really matter anyway. The Thai government is not going to know anything about your mother withdrawing money from her account to spend in Thailand. I would not lose a wink of sleep over it.
