Moving Transport To Chiang Mai?

Hi! I am trying to move to Chiang Mai after 8 months in Bangkok. I have accumulated a fair amount of stuff, TV, bookcases, clothes, kitchen stuff, etc. I also have a small motorcycle. I think all this stuff would fit in the bed of a small pickup, maybe one with a 'cage' on top.

Does anyone know how I might arrange that, and how much I would expect to pay for the trip? I would like to just find a private owner that would be prepared to take me and my stuff up to Chiang Mai and return on his own, if that is possible.

I have also been told that it is possible to take a mtorcycle up on the train, has anyone taken a motorcycle AND many boxes as 'accompanied baggage' at a reasonable extra fee?

Any ideas most appreciated.

I might suggest that you speak to one of the taxi drivers that hang around places like Nana Plaza during the day time.

These guys would surely know someone with a pick up.

I would make sure to travel up (to Chiangmai) in the pick up with the load yourself "to make sure that nothing falls off" so to speak.

I ship stuff to Chiang Mai all the time in cartons and the best deal I have found is Schenker Shipping Company. The bad news is that to get the best rate, you have to bring the stuff to their warehouse in Bangkok yourself.

Do you have contact info for Schenker Shipping Company in Bangkok?

Appreciate it,

I do everything through Chiang Mai, so have no info in Bangkok.

Try contacting Miss Noppakao Dee-Inn (Customer Service Supervisor) in Chiang Mai at 053 904 672-80.

She is brilliant, speaks great English and can be quite easy on the eyes! :o
