PATTAYA: -- A Chonburi businesswoman was arrested by Pattaya police early this morning for carrying a 9mm gun and ammunition in her car.

Suay Phengprakhon, 36, who is a business owner in the Bor Win district of Chonburi, said the gun was for her own protection.

It was found in a routine search around 4am at a police checkpoint set up in Soi Krom Thee Din in South Pattaya.

The HK P30SK 9mm weapon and ten bullets with case and other attachments was found in the pocket next to the driver.

Siamchon News reported that the driver was detained but the specific charges were not mentioned in their story.

Suay was driving a white Mercedes Benz with Bangkok plates.

With all the nutters running around these days, a woman driving alone needs some protection.

For the photo, they managed to find 3 senior officers, pathetic.

Thought maybe the lady that was shot at two times 1 1/2 weeks ago in Pattaya.

Having one, being able to use one, and using it on someone are all entirely different things. Many couldnt.

Won't it be funny if she is found to have links to someone of influence in Bangkok.

This is worthy of a photo op with the three brave police officers? Unfortunately finding a young pretty woman with a gun in the car is not even newsworthy. If she was pointing it at them, it would be a different and newsworthy story.

well if police did their jobs that they are paid to do and remove criminals and road rage idiots off the streets then people would feel safe and there would be no need for gun protection ....best is if all guns were removed

Terrified she might be mistaken for a uber driver. She'd need more than ten 9's to hold off the stout hearted taxi mafiosi till their brown shirted compadres pitched up.

If they catch all those guys out there carrying a firearm illegally, streets will be half empty.

At least she got a quality product instead of one of those self-made scrap, but an original HK P30 is the hell of expensive here...

Something has been lost in the reporting here. There is no mention of a gun license. And as far as I understand it, if you have a license, there is nothing in Thai law that prohibits carrying a gun in a vehicle with or without ammo. My guess is that she did not have a license and that is what is at issue here.

She looks quite pleased with herself really. Guess they missed the AK47 under the seat!

And not having one means only one thing: that she won't shoot someone over some b*shit reason.

Maybe worried she gets attacked by a monk!!

And if it is ordered for all guns to be turned in by the public do you think that the bad guys are going to turn in theirs ? What a dxmb statement.

Are you talking about guns or the deadly weapons they drive around in?

She seems to be smiling in the first photo. Did the BIB not like that and say "Take 2"?

Driving a Mercedes Benz hmm must be like a license to carry. I think the BIB should have passed this one over unless there was some gelt involved. Another round of beer for the boys!!

Not got a problem with her having a gun in her car.  This is Thailand and it's every man/woman for themselves!

I can handle that the gun is the big equalizer. When pointed at you it makes the biggest of men tremble and maybe wet their pantlegs.

She can use my pistol.

Where is Soi Krom Thee Din ?

Just like they have in america and the uk?

Sorry its ok if round eyes have guns because they are more discerning in whi they shoot

I love the way her face is blurred in the photo and then there's a video clearly showing her face. I will never understand the thought process of people in this country. If there is one.

Only it's illegal to carry guns here without the appropriate license. They're are plenty of illegal ones as it is.

Or are you advocating that Thailand should follow the US on gun thinking?

If it's that dangerous at 4am maybe she should just go home earlier like any normal person?

Personally I dont want anyone driving around with a gun here, regardless of what reason they think they have. They are all demented enough to start firing at shadows.

I think your onto to something in the first picture she is smiling. The BIB must think they are  holding 4 Aces but she may have a Royal Flush up her sleeve.

Nah, the BiB would've checked that out before releasing the PR shots.

Unless of course they were so pleased with themselves they left it to officer Somchai to check, and he forgot, was busy on his iPhone, had to fetch the food and drink,  was tired etc etc.

Interesting to see where it goes.

Wonder where she got the gun btw.............................. hope not officer Somchai!
