Amnesty International condemns Pattani bomb attacks
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Amnesty International promptly issued a statement to denounce two coordinated bomb attacks in the restive southern province of Pattani Friday as a callous disregard for human life.

"The attack on a shopping centre in Pattani is a horrific and deliberate attack on civilians, and shows a callous disregard for human life,” Amnesty International’s Director for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Champa Patel, said in a press statement.

The Amnesty also urged the Thai authorities to bring the attackers to justice via fair trials.

Insurgents threw a pipe bomb in Big C shopping mall at 2:30 pm and detonated a bomb hidden in a pickup while the shoppers were running outside.

"Thailand’s authorities must immediately order an independent and effective investigation. They have a duty to bring the perpetrators to justice through fair trials and in line with international standards and without imposing the death penalty,” Patel said.

“All steps taken by the authorities to stop and prevent such attacks must respect Thailand’s obligations under international human rights law.”

What a tragic and heinous act. Heart goes out to the victims and their nearest and dearest.

Cant wait for ''peeved pensioner from pattaya" or 'bangkok brit' and their ilk to come on here denouncing all thais as bomb throwing terrorists and bemoaning why it doesnt happen back where they moved  from.

Maybe even a 'I might have to move if it continues like this etc'.
