Govt urges product producers not to increase prices

BANGKOK, 10 May 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce has urged producers of necessary products to contact the Internal Trade Department before making adjustments to the size of products.

The producers and retail stores that met with the ministry on Tuesday included Central Food Retail, Colgate-Palmolive, Saha Pathanapibul, Berli Jucker, Makro, Tesco Lutus, Big C and Tops Supermarket.

Deputy Minister of Commerce Sontirat Sontijirawong said Protex soap and Breeze Excel detergent were sold at the same prices but their sizes were smaller. They did not violate laws since the prices were still below the price ceilings, said the deputy minister.

The deputy minister also called on producers of neccessary products to adjust their cost management so that they can sell products at the same prices.

So making smaller products is fine, well that's what they'll do from now on. Well done.

They could have done the whole nation a big pleasure by just letting Aldi or Lidl into the country.  Then Thailand might become cheap again.

For frozen fish they also have a trick , just freeze it in a thick layer of ice and sell.
