KRC forecasts parents will spend 27 billion baht during new school term

BANGKOK, 10 May 2017 (NNT) - Kasikorn Research Center (KRC) revealed its survey which shows that parents do not hesitate to spend when it comes to their children's education, expecting 27 billion baht to circulate during the new school term.

According to the center's survey, most of the respondents believed the Thai economy was stable as around 62% said they were not worried about their finances ahead of the new school year.

The majority of them revealed they would spend as much as they did last semester while 80% of them claimed the money used for their children's education came from their own savings.

The KRC also forecast that as much as 27 billion baht would be spent throughout the new school term, which will begin in the middle of this month. The figure represents a 4% increase compared to the same period last year.

It's a shame that the parents forking out their hard-earned cash will not receive any value for money.

Agree, Encid, 70% of "International Schools" are just money making machines & their students have

no ability of passing the requisite exams when the time comes & the Government have no plans in place to curtail the

rip offs

Here we go with the old numbers game again and despondants sorry respondents just full of confidence. Reads like the business section of my unmentionable newspaper.

Why the increase?

Some possible causes are inflation, administrative mismanagement, price gouging, additional (and perhaps unnecessary) fees, etc.

While a majority of " respondents .... said they were not worried about their finances ahead of the new school year," it's not a justification for paying more.  KR might do more to explain the meaning of its survey results.

Yes, schools here are a fantastic business. Pay for every little thing. Make up new things and sting the parents for that.

When parents can clearly see your crumbling school with little or no investment, they won't judge you (the school owner) for driving to work in a nice new Mercedes. In fact, you'll be wyed and admired. If you do complain, your kid will simply be kicked out.

I'd say the only flaw as running a school as a business are the students. Would be great if they weren't there.

Boy school fees have really gone up...Is that 27 Billion Baht

per child or per family?

Money they don't have for a nearly worthless degree
