BANGKOK: -- The driver of a passenger van was sentenced to four months imprisonment for inhaling crystal meth before driving.

The 34-year old driver of a passenger van for the Morchit-Ban Pae route, Mr Paiwan Namprapa, was arrested by police on February 20 at a checkpoint on Kamphaeng Phet road after a urine test showed positive result.

Paiwan admitted to the police that he consumed crystal meth by inhaling its smoke from a heated glass tube before driving the van for Ban Pae in Rayong province.

The public prosecutor charged him of illicit drug usage and demanded that his driving license be suspended.

Finally a Good News story !

Why? what happened to the one punishment fits all 1,000 baht fine?

have mercy on the man, he's probably a poor farmer aching out a living...

( aren't they all ).....

Driving license revoked for 6 months, but other than that seems like he can get driving passengers (after serving sentence)?

What!

4 months for doing what he did! Is this for real?

He was in charge of a PS vehicle plus people's lives within the vehicle plus other road users too!

And yet it's 5 years for selling, or distributing, E cigarettes...

Which reinforces the urgent need for massive upgrade of many types of formal and informal education to give a much larger % of the Thai population many more opportunities in life for better work and a better quality of life and also raise many aspects of standards.

Or was the sentence suspended because he confessed?

4 months only ? It should be a full year at least ! Take any drug you want, but AT HOME ! not when you could kill innocent people !
