Sri Racha municipality cleans up coast after online furore

The Sri Racha Municipality has deployed officials to collect garbage along the coast of Koh Loi Park after social networkers widely shared photos of floating garbage and the polluted sea.

 

The clean-up operation was led by Charat Suwan, deputy mayor of the municipality.

 

On Friday, Thai Facebook users shared a post that showed photos of garbage floating along the 500-metre coast of Koh Loi. The photos showed the sea had turned black in that area and the post said the area had a bad smell.

 

Charat said the garbage had been washed ashore after a storm two days ago.
