Asia assesses ransomware assault, extent may not be known until Monday

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Some hospitals, schools and universities in Asia were hit by a global cyber attack which infected tens of thousands of computers in Europe and the United States, but officials and researchers said the extent of any damage may not yet be known.

Jetstar passengers were trapped for hours on tarmac in Phuket with no air conditioning

PASSENGERS were fainting and babies were stripped down to just their nappies on a “nightmare” Melbourne-bound Jetstar flight stranded on the tarmac with no air conditioning in tropical conditions.

BMTA prepares buses for new school term

An extract from the front page of Vol 1 Issue 1 of the Gazette, launched 23 years ago in May 1994. Phuket was gorgeous but that was not news locally, and there was no Web, so the paper remained monthly in the first four years of its life.

 

PHUKET: It's like Grandma’s little drinking problem. Everyone knows, but people don’t much talk about it. And so it goes with the publishers of hard-copy newspapers these days – worldwide. We know where print is headed, so the only real choices are whether to get out now or, say two years from now.
