Anyone know of other rental options. There is a couple of websites in Thai language with car renters in Loei. I hesitate to link this here. And to contact them you would have to talk in Thai or need help. They seem to offer limousine (taxi) service with driver (day excursions etc.). And picture is likely taken at the airport ("AIRPORT COFFEE)

June 22, 20179 yr Author Just a quick report back on my trip to Loei. Firstly the car hire problem was solved by my tgf offering to rent me a relatives car for 3,000 baht for 4 days. What a surprise. Still better they have the cash than Avis. Second problem was the hotel i booked there, the Loei Palace, was flooded and closed just before i arrived. They forgot to tell me of course so i had to get another place. In the end spent a couple of days in Chiang Khan. Very nice there by the Mekong river, relaxing but not a lot to do. As for Loei, a typical thai town with again not much to do. A few bars and the odd restaurant. If i had to spend more than 3-4 days there i would be cutting my wrists with boredom. How farangs live there is beyond me. Their idea of a wild time is a trip to Tesco.
