Almost two months after the killing of minority rights and youth activist Chaiyaphum Pasae in Chaing Dao district Chiang Mai by soldiers on March 17, Chiang Mai police said Sunday that they had just received from the army a video footage of the incident.

Pol Col Mongkol Sampavaphon, deputy commander of Chiang Mai provincial police, told the media that the police had just received from the army a hard disk drive containing footage from the crime scene.

However, he said police had not opened the hard disc to see its content yet, but wrapped the disc with tape, signed on it and had it sent to the Scientific Crime Detection Division for examination to determine that the footage was not tampered with or edited.

The 17-year old activist and a colleague were travelling in a pickup truck when it was ordered to stop for a search by an army unit at a checkpoint in Chiang Dao district.

2 months to hand the video evidence over, and on a hard disk, not even quoted as the original recording?

People knew 6 weeks ago, when it wasn't forthcoming immediately, despite witnesses seriously disputing the armies version of the killing, that anything that did eventually turn up, would be a select version of events. And now they want the facade of "Oh, we need to see of it is genuine." Of course it isn't! But they know that already.

There goes another case of injustice to add to the growing pile.

Hope it wasn't this one.

"for examination to determine that the footage was not tampered with or edited."

I am sure it will be exactly what they want it too be.

"Civic and human rights groups have unsuccessfully demanded the Third Army to publicly show the footage in question in order to clear the doubt about Chaiyaphum’s killing."

They answer to no one about anything.

The Army cooperating with the police!  Whatever next; sharing of brown envelopes?

army tampering ?! o the shock!!!!

oops we pushed the delete button. Or in this case it can be oops we don't know how it got edited.

They would never release something discriminatory would they??

Well if they release the video we will soon find out.

Probably an hard disk containing Ransom software....

I'm guessing they sent it overseas so a proper job of editing could be done so it doesn't look so obviously altered like the Khao Tao video.
